Although Decker had always considered herself to be a singer from the country, the album was made and promoted with a pop audience in mind. The album had two additional singles. the album stiffed Decker struggled with the label's executives to gain more control over her music and the next single Boys in the Summer was more of a country-oriented single. The second album of Decker, dubbed in the form of Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records was shelved because Mercury was disappointed by the performance on three of her singles in the country charts.
